Database Engineer - PostgreSQL

Database Engineer / DBA with SME database experience within PostgreSQL required for leading hedge fund based in London. Emphasis on PostgreSQL with NoSQL and SQL server as backup into production engineering environments.

Essential Skills: 3 years + experience in database engineering or production dba role; production environment experience with specialist focus on PostgreSQL environment; understanding of DB monitoring, analysis, disaster recovery, and performance tuning; server exposure and experience using open-source technologies one of the following programming languages (SQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL etc.); experience in scripting in PowerShell/Shell script, Python would be a real plus

Desirable experience - cloud DB admin in Azure and / or AWS; broad exposure to Open-source technologies.

My client is a leading hedge fund based in London and is looking to expand its DBA engineering function due to the growing needs in the business. The environment is largely based around PostgreSQL and SQL Server technologies and the Microsoft platform. The team has multi-faceted skillsets including data warehouse architecture, business intelligence solutions, and database administration. The team is driven by the desire to attain high levels of professional excellence, delivering successful and lasting database solutions to the business.

Successful candidates will almost certainly have a computer science-based degree from reputable university. A demonstrable track record of working in a large and complex database environment working at top tier end user organisations. Typical organisations my client is interested in seeing candidates from would include Big Tech, hedge or prop trading firms, commodities trading firms, rapidly growing fintech companies, large and complex consumer lead retail businesses or investment banks.

The role is more than just a DBA role.
